Things are starting to get real real quick! These are different times we are living in especially with it being a Pandemic. Being able to celebrate looks a lot different, especially keeping in mind everything that is going on. I've been to drive-by showers and then some people I know ended up cancelling their showers altogether. With technology and having the option to do a virtual shower is another idea too. To be cautious and mindful, we ended up doing an outdoor shower at a park with just a small group of family and friends. As much as I would want to celebrate with everyone, we had to be really careful.
We ended up deciding to do 2 showers. Small group for the park and my mom is hosting a virtual shower for our family, church and other friends we couldn't invite to the in-person shower. For our in-person shower it was actually nice and we had a "Twinkle Twinkle" theme. Everything from food and favors was very COVID-friendly. We had masks and little hand sanitizers with a custom glass to match his logo that went perfect for the times we are in.
I'll be honest, I was very skeptical on the virtual because I just couldn't see what could be done. I absolutely love my mom because she is all over these virtual parties. There are so many apps to incorporate games to interact with guests.
Padlet is a website that you can use to create games and create interactive visuals with guests. It is available on Microsoft, Apple, Google Chrome and Android. Tribute is another virtual platform you can use to send out to people in advance prior to your event that people can participate in and it will create a video of all people who recorded a video for you to share with that special someone for them to have as a keepsake.
Zoom is where we hosted my virtual shower, and it was a great idea to get my family together and just see everyone. if you want to be interactive a step further you can also have a custom background digitally that people can add, or you can have a background set up for yourself. We kept the same background from our in-person shower and it worked out perfect for our backdrop. Lastly, if you are a person who likes to document everything then you can record your virtual shower as well. That way you can always reflect on those special moments.
I'm very happy we got to do something small, and the support from my family and Logan's Angels who helped put this together made everything even more special! Regardless if you do a shower or not, be safe in your decision and take care of yourself and your little one.
